A car that uses unconventional automotive fuel as its power source

New energy vehicles refer to vehicles that use unconventional vehicle fuels as their power source (or use conventional vehicle fuels and adopt new vehicle power devices), integrate advanced technologies in vehicle power control and drive, and have advanced technical principles, new technologies, and new structures. 

New energy vehicles include pure electric vehicles, extended-range electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, fuel cell electric vehicles, hydrogen engine vehicles, etc. 

In 2021, the annual output of new energy vehicles was 3.677 million units, an increase of 152.5% over the previous year, ending three consecutive years of negative growth; the latest statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that in 2022, China's new energy vehicle production and sales reached 7.058 million units and 6.887 million units respectively, an increase of 96.9% and 93.4% year-on-year respectively, ranking first in the world for eight consecutive years. 

On February 28, 2023, the National Bureau of Statistics released the "Statistical Communiqué of the People's Republic of China on the National Economic and Social Development in 2022", showing that the annual output of new energy vehicles in 2022 was 7.003 million units, an increase of 90.5% over the previous year. 

 On January 13, 2025, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released the latest data, showing that in 2024, my country's automobile production and sales will both exceed 31 million units, setting a new record. 

On February 28, 2025, the National Bureau of Statistics released the "Statistical Communiqué of the People's Republic of China on National Economic and Social Development in 2024", with the production of new energy vehicles reaching 13.168 million units, an increase of 38.7% over the previous year. 

In 2024, 11.25 million new energy vehicles will be newly registered, accounting for 41.83% of the number of newly registered vehicles. [96] In 2024, China's annual production and sales of new energy vehicles will reach the level of tens of millions of vehicles, reaching 12.888 million and 12.866 million respectively, and the production and sales of new energy vehicles will rank first in the world for 10 consecutive years. In the past 10 years, China's annual production and sales of new energy vehicles have leapt from tens of thousands to tens of millions, and its products have been exported to more than 70 countries and regions, becoming a "bright business card" of Made in China.
