Car painting
Ordinary paint
Ordinary paint is the simplest, with resin, pigment and additives.
In-depth analysis: Ordinary paint is the most common paint for cars and it appeared the earliest. More than ten years ago, most cars that people came into contact with used this kind of paint. Its characteristics are low cost and simple process, but its glossiness is not very good, the surface hardness is not high, and it is particularly easy to scratch. Therefore, it is rarely used on cars. Even if it is used, it is a low-end model. Most of them are used on trucks and buses. However, cars using this kind of paint have price advantages.
Metallic paint
Metallic paint, also known as metallic flash paint, is a popular car topcoat. Fine aluminum particles are added to its paint base. After the light hits the aluminum particles, it is reflected by the aluminum particles through the air film. Therefore, it looks like the metal is shining. This kind of metallic flash paint gives people a pleasant, light and novel feeling, so it is very common. By changing the shape and size of the aluminum particles, the flash of the metallic flash paint film can be controlled. A layer of varnish is also added to the outside of the metallic paint for protection.
In-depth analysis: Metallic paint is made by adding aluminum powder to ordinary paint, so it looks bright after it is finished. The biggest feature of metallic paint is not only its high brightness, but also its hardness is much higher than that of ordinary paint. It is not easy for ordinary objects to scrape it off. Therefore, cars, especially high-end cars, basically use metallic paint, and it has become a trend. Cars with metallic paint are generally two to three thousand yuan more expensive than ordinary paint cars of the same type. Pearlescent paint, also known as mica paint, is also a popular car topcoat. Its principle is basically the same as that of metallic paint. It uses mica instead of aluminum particles. Mica pigments coated with titanium dioxide and iron oxide are added to its paint base. When light hits the mica particles, it first takes on the colors of titanium dioxide and iron oxide, and then complex refraction and interference occur in the mica particles. At the same time, mica itself has a special, transparent color. In this way, the reflected light has a pearl-like glitter. Moreover, titanium dioxide itself has a yellow color, which changes to light blue when viewed from the side, and has different colors when viewed from different angles. Therefore, pearlescent paint gives people a sense of novelty, colorfulness, and a dazzling array of colors.
In-depth analysis: Mica paint is not widely used on cars. [1] Do you know which color is the cheapest? That is white. For example, the world's top brand red pigment is about 25 times more expensive than the world's top brand titanium dioxide; and the amount of titanium dioxide used in white paint is about 5 times that of red pigment. Therefore, the cost of red paint is 5 times higher than that of white paint. This is why some domestic cars have so few color varieties: simple and low cost. [1] The additives added to the paint (such as light stabilizers, antioxidants, etc.) are very important. Good additives are very expensive. In many cases, the quality of the additives determines how the paint feels. People will definitely think that a paint that starts to fade significantly after 2 years is worse than a paint that is still as bright as new after 5 years. But in fact, there is no paint that does not fade. In many cases, the manufacturer is more concerned about: fading evenly. Try not to make different parts of the car have color differences.
