Rubber strips to repair tires

Released on Apr. 26, 2024

Advantages: Quick and convenient, no need to remove the tire from the rim.

Disadvantages: Not durable enough, easy to leak, easy to damage the ply.

Strip tire repair steps:

① Pull out the foreign object. Find the punctured position and use pliers to pull out the foreign object stuck in the tire.

② To deal with punctures, use a tapered file, insert it into the punctured hole in the tire, and pump it back and forth several times. The purpose is to file away the stubble on the wound surface of the hole so that it can be tightly combined after the adhesive strip is inserted.

③ Insert the rubber strip. Take out the rubber strip and insert it into the hole at the tip of the awl. Make the rubber strips at both ends of the awl eye equal in length, and then merge the rubber strips at both ends into one. Use an awl to guide the rubber strip and slowly insert it into the hole of the tire. The insertion depth should be such that the length of the rubber strip entering the tire is about 5cm, while ensuring that the rubber strip exposed outside the tire is not shorter than 1cm. In this step, you need to pay attention to ensure that the rubber strip can enter the tire when inserting.

④ Pull out the tool and pull the awl out of the tire. The action should be very slow when pulling out, so as to ensure that when pulling out the awl, two more strands of the rubber strips that have originally entered the tire can be taken out.

⑤ Check for air leakage. Inflate the tire enough and use soap foam to check for air leakage around the rubber strip. If there is air leakage, the tire repair will fail and you must repeat the above steps; if there is no air leakage, it will be successful.

⑥ Cut off the excess. Use a blade to cut off the rubber strip that exposes the outer part of the tire to make the outside of the tire flat.
